I think the real issue that we're debating as a Country, is not the debt that has accumulated, but that the Republicans have campaigned for no tax raises, and now we are starting to feel the effect of no tax raises.
No one wants to pay taxes. No one wants to pay more than their fair share. The people who don't have children, don't pay for schools, or educational programs, or free lunches for kids they didn't have. And it would be hard to say the least for my family and I to have more money deducted from our monthly income.
But. There is a price to pay for not having good schools. There is a price to pay for not having social programs. Every citizen, who lives and works in this country, will be effected by the absence of these programs, by our lack of good schools, by not having unions, who fight for regular working people (most of the time, effecting even those workers who don't belong to unions).
