So things here are a bit broken. Photoshop is not recognizing my scanner, so I had to use an alternate. We are in the process of fixing it, so in the mean time please forgive the quality.
This cartoon was actually suppose to get posted earlier this week. I was actually shocked by what the Republicans in Wisconsin's Congress did. I don't think very many people expected them to be so dictatorial. We are, after all, living in a supposely "democratic" society. And as such, debate is part of the process. But Governor Walker didn't want debate. Wasn't even open to the option of having some public discourse. There was no compromise. There was no choice. No vote. No representation. (And for those who want to claim that the Democratic Senators voluntarily left the State, please remember that it was because Governor Walker wouldn't allow any any any debate. It was a desperate move. One that ultimately failed because Governor Walker found a loop hole to shove his legislation down our throats.) No debate. No compromise. No discussion. No democracy. Welcome to Wisconsin. Yes, our budget should be fixed. But some debate over the way in which it should be fixed should have happened. Perhaps, his plan would have been accepted. Maybe, instead of holding us down and forcing it down throats, a more civilized method would have been to allow debate, allow a proper vote, and allow the people's voices to be heard.
